Werepoodle everything has been said is true, but I strongly disagree fewer accidents and make our waters safer. On the contrary, actually. This license is available online, open book, and tends to create a false sense of knowledge and skills in novice boats. I manage a Marina in Ontario, and have many new sailors who have not even seen the boat on the trailer, but that the "map". If you want to really find the navigation to learn the courses offered by the season of power if I add a link. If all you want is legal, the PCOC exam, you will receive your card, and stay on my lake.

All operators of boats used for recreational purposes in Canada, finally card. The to the following three groups of ships, you should immediately call the card:

All operators of powered vehicle with 4 m long (13.1 feet)
All operators of personal watercraft (ie, Sea-Doos and Jet-ski)
All operators of motor boats of all born after April 1, 1983
As of September 15, 2009, all boaters simply drive Craft Operator Card to a motorboat. There is no clause, grandfather or age exemption - this law applies to all boaters. Powered watercraft includes watercraft fitted with an engine size - even a trolling motor.

Recreational boating is a popular pastime in Canada, seven to nine million people enjoying the waterways of Canada each year. Unfortunately, not everything that a return boat trip: More than 200 boat-related deaths occur each year with about 6,000 non-fatal accidents - mostly preventable. The public and the sailors had fun with the expressEnsure that any person of any age to operate May, a ship without any prior experience in the boat. The driver of recreational craft card payments are an attempt, the number of accidents involving navigation and reduce fatalities. The program is intended to help sailors to assess their abilities and limitations to prepare properly before going out and is responsible in the water.
